Midnight Bday@ The Leela Palace

I was turning 30, a major milestone in a women's life. Although you are as young as you think you are and age is just a number. Still 30 rings a bell in our minds, because till now I would consider myself in my 20's. With a 6 month old baby in my arms, I didn't want to celebrate my birthday the typical way - blowing candles and cutting a cake at midnight and taking pictures in pajamas. With the stresses of bringing up an infant and managing office, my husband too forgot to arrange for a cake to be cut at midnight.

The Grand Entrance
So we decided that lets go out at 12, sit at a coffee-shop and re-live our old times when we used to spend hours sipping coffee and talking. In Bangalore, there are very few places which are open past midnight and the closest to our home is The Leela Palace.

The Hallway leading to Citrus Cafe
There is a cafe/restaurant in there which operates 24 hours. So we got ready, took our little one and went there.
Unfortunately only one cake type of recipe was available at that hour- Cheesecake, so that's what we ordered along with cappuccino.

Philadelphia Cheese cake - Orange apple - Thyme apricot marmalade
Ambiance - Awesome - there is a pool side sitting area also, but it is not preferred late in the night because there can be mosquitoes, so it is closed. The inside area is also very soothing with blue lights and interesting decor.

Interior and Decor
Food - Food is as good as any Five or Seven star hotel would have. Less quantity, well decorated and continental in flavor.

Location - Citrus @ Leela Palace on Old Airport Road

Price for 2 - It is expensive - We ordered just a cheesecake and 2 cups of coffee and paid ~Rs 1000/-

Experience - The experience was amazing, and I think much better than cutting a cake in your shorts at home. Definitely worth a go if you are looking for midnight eateries.
