Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

We decided to go to Ranganathittu Bird sancturary while returning from Shivasamudram waterfalls. The reviews of this place were positive and I love bird watching, so this was it. However, we realized we had landed up there in teh wrong season. The best time to go to Ranganathittu is Feb-March because there are umpteem birds and even migratory species could be seen in this season.
We went in August - just after rains, so birds were less and the pool was full of water.
Nonetheless we enjoyed a lot, some pics here...

As soon as we enter the place, there is a dhaba/eating joint, he serves nice dosas and chinese. There is a ticket to this place but it is minimal I guess 20 bucks or something per adult. There is a big pond where you need to buy a boating ticket and the person takes you on a tour to the park.

Lots of crocodials in the pond, but do not be scared, the boat person will take you to them as close as he can.

Here is a pic of myself enjoying the bamboo trees.

Picture of the pond that I mentioned. Boat ride is a must, becoz only then you will be able to see most of the bird species and crocs too.

What Next - There is a temple in Srirangapatna which is famous for its Hoysala architecture. It is very near to this bird sanctuary so can be visited while returning to bangalore. Or Mysore can also be clubbed with this destination as it comes on the way back. We preferred to combine this with Shivasamudram waterfalls and back to bangalore
